This is how they got started :

“Danial (myself) and my business partner Hasym a.k.a “Syimmy”, inspiration dates back to 8 years ago, when we were traveling together in Bali. Our driver, Putu, had generously invited us to his home for dinner with his family. When we arrived, Putu and his wife were still preparing the food. Looking at the fresh crabs in the kitchen, an idea struck me. Why not cook for them Singapore’s famous chili crab, which the couple had never tried before. With whatever ingredients were available in Putu’s pantry, I tried my best to replicate my mum’s recipe. Putu’s family enjoy the meal I cooked for them and for us it’s a fond memory of bonding over a cultural exchange of food with Putu’s family during our holiday in Bali. So during the Covid pandemic, we both got hit pretty hard.

While dealing with the economic fallout from Covid-19. Myself as a flight attendant with Finnair while Syimmy is a wedding planner. Both of our industries are badly affected by the pandemic. While furloughed and working part-time as a Safe Distancing Ambassador and Dormitory Operator respectively, we were inspired to start a business that not only helped ourselves but also our struggling circle of friends as well. We support them as our ingredients supplier and also for deliveries

This is our story and journey for Killa Krab and we both are proud of our baby.. It’s a modern twist to the younger crowd with the graphics and packaging to a traditional local dish.”

“Our Muslim-owned home-based business Killa Krab is offering a more affordable version of chilli crab in trendily packaged, conveniently portioned cartons. Suit for family or individual portion. We specialize only in chili crab. The recipe is from my mum, who enjoys cooking halal Chinese cuisine. I learn from the “master chef” herself and created the dish for Killa Krab. While I’m in the kitchen, Syimmy in the hand is the master of the concept and design for Killa Krab’s outlook and media content with his expertise in graphics and photography. We want to break the concept of people’s mindset that chili crab is only for occasions and the high price point. We wanna make affordable and a dish that one has been craving but for a single portion.”
